But how, are we dealing with the sea now that summer has gone away and we are moving towards winter? Of course, because in our beautiful region October can be a wonderful month and we want to share our experience in these days in Cilento, before this remnant of summer ends. Let's clarify immediately that we will not deal with the ancient village of Castellabate, the one made famous by the film "Welcome to the South!", Because, unless someone denies us, it is completely inaccessible by wheelchair. Then we turn to the three marine hamlets of the municipality of Castellabate, which are Ogliastro Marina, San Marco di Castellabate, Santa Maria di Castellabate. Of the three Ogliastro Marina is the furthest from the ancient village: the access road to the small village ends at the entrance to the Punta Licosa park, where unfortunately it is not possible to enter by car, as it is private property. Then we stop first, at the town square, from which you can enjoy a splendid panorama; the "Antica Olearola" nature trail departs from the square and extends for 420 meters between the sea and the pine forest and can also be used by seated warriors.
We liked, at the beginning of the path, this tree bent by the wind almost to have the trunk horizontal. To secure it, it was necessary to support it with a support column and a metal ring: in short, a disabled tree.
Let's move now to San Marco di Castellabate and follow the signs for the Pozzillo beach. The road ends in a roundabout overlooking the sea where, especially now that we are out of the tourist season, it is possible to park the car (there is a place reserved for the disabled), get off and enjoy this view on the beach, on the ancient village of Castellabate ( above) and on Santa Maria (left).
Going up from the roundabout, we can stop at the beginning of another panoramic path, accessible in a chair, at least in part.
And if you are in San Marco in June and stay there until sunset, this is the spectacle that can be enjoyed from the marina (in the background, in the distance, you can distinguish Capri, Ischia and Procida):
On the other side of the Pozzillo beach, compared to San Marco, there is Santa Maria di Castellabate, the largest and most "worldly" village in the municipality of Castellabate. It is a delightful and well-kept village, where you can stroll along the main street and shop for typical Cilento products, as well as enjoy the sea along the two beautiful promenades. Let's see what the Tommaso Perrotti seafront has in store for us:
We now come to the suggestion for lunch: we found a restaurant, meeting our requirements, attached to a bathing establishment, and then we have lunch on the beach, under the shelter of a shelter: Lido Santa Maria (*) Lungomare Tommaso Perrotti, Santa Maria di Castellabate (*) symbol indicating the presence of toilets equipped for the disabled So, friends, let's enjoy this October while it lasts and visit our beautiful Campania!
