Who we are

The greatness of Italian Constitution also lies in the generality of the concepts expressed and in their ability to accompany the evolution of society and knowledge without necessarily having to modify the text.

Today, in fact, reading this second paragraph of article 3, we like to imagine the Republic as if it were the site manager of a large construction company struggling with the elimination of architectural barriers throughout the Italian territory.

This would mean making citizens' equality effective in everyday life; in fact, equality includes the right for everyone, including the disabled, to mobility, access to public and private buildings, the use of cultural heritage and so on.

Of course, today we have a different concept of these rights than in 1946; then, after a war that had among other things created a multitude of individuals all over the world rendered disabled by injuries and mutilations of all kinds, the approach towards these people was only of a charitable type, based on a good heart and solidarity of neighbor (which when they are there never hurt, of course) rather than on the affirmation of their rights.

But this approach is still partly present in the mentality of many people and in the practical behaviors of many institutions (how many times do we hear: "but if necessary we can help", perhaps precisely from those who could have solved the problem of accessibility with a simple walkway).

These accessible tourism pills that we will propose from time to time, starting from our region, Campania, are based on the personal experience of the writer: Adele and Angelo, a couple composed of a disabled and her companion, always together in life, even when they go around for the world.

The aim is to lend a hand to those who find themselves in the same conditions of motion disability and perhaps sometimes give up moving because they are afraid of finding nasty surprises (how many restaurants without equipped bathrooms but not accessible to disabled people are there in our region?).

By doing so we think we are also giving due recognition to those situations in which the problem of accessibility to the motion disabled has been addressed and solved! Of course we expect feedback, suggestions, disputes, corrections or updates, reports of significant situations; in short, everything that makes a blog alive.
