Well yes, we have entered Phase 2 of pandemic, that of reopening; and then, after a closure at home that for Adele was absolute and lasted more than three months, on Friday 29 May, taking advantage of a splendid sunny day, we ventured out of the house for the first time all together, with son and girlfriend . The goal? One of the structures that have already reopened in recent weeks; we are talking about the Railway Museum of Pietrarsa (*), located in the municipality of Portici (NA), which represents something really special, for its position on the sea and for the splendidly preserved locomotives and carriages. We had already talked about it in a post of 2017, but in this visit we found it significantly improved, due to the work carried out in recent times, and we want to convey our feelings to you. Let's start by illustrating the area of the amphitheater, where shows and concerts are held in the summer:
We continue with the "master of the house", that is to say Ferdinand II of Bourbon, under whose reign the Pietrarsa workshops were built and whose imposing cast iron statue has recently been restored:
Let's now take a look at the material exhibited in the museum sheds, which have also been restored in order to highlight their beautiful architectural structure; these are steam, diesel, electric locomotives, as well as carriage and model cars: The precedence goes to the reproduction of the Bayard locomotive which in 1839 on the Naples - Portici line was the first to enter service in Italy:
We remind you of the website (https://www.fondazionefs.it/content/fondazionefs/en.html) for info on openings and timetables; to enter the museum with your own car (this is essential for us) you must call 081 472003 and have the gates open. At the end of the visit, moving a few kilometers towards Naples, we recommend refreshing yourself at Eccellenze Campane, which is not just a restaurant but a center for the enhancement of Campania food culture, where it is possible to make purchases of typical and high quality products of our region:
