The finds of ancient Stabiae come back to life

Hosanna! In the sense of Professor Massimo Osanna, director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and waiting to take up his new position as director general of the state museums. The professor Osanna, architect of the rebirth of the Pompeii site, had undertaken to arrange the finds of the Roman villas of ancient Stabiae, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, which for decades had been lying in a deposit, invisible to the public. The accommodation chosen was the Quisisana Palace, a site built by the Angevins on the hills of Castellammare di Stabia, which we talked about in a post some time ago, and which today is finally heading towards its full development. In fact, the Archaeological Museum of Stabiae "Libero D'Orsi" (*) (http://pompeiisites.org/reggia-quisisana/museo-archeologico-di-stabia-libero-dorsi) was installed in the Palace, dedicated to that illustrious figure of archaeologist who in the 50s of the last century directed the excavations of Stabiae and collected the finds in the school of which he was headmaster. In the museum there are frescoes, statues, stuccos, tools and pottery, coming from Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna, two sites open to the public but difficult to access for seated warriors, and from other villas in the area, which have been buried again. waiting to be able to fix them and, who knows, one day open to the public. So let's start showing some images, in a non-systematic way, as we often do, with the aim of giving an idea of the richness of the materials exhibited in the museum:

After the visit to the D'Orsi Museum, you can do as we did, who reached the Marinella di Meta di Sorrento and were lucky, on this first day of October, to find a pleasant day that allowed us to have lunch outdoors and to stroll along the sea from Marinella to Alimuri. Let's first give the coordinates of the restaurant and then some pictures of the coast: Lido Marinella (*) Via A. Caruso 1, Meta di Sorrento 0815322030 / 3393126305 https://www.lidomarinella.it/ (*) symbol indicating the presence of toilets equipped for the disabled
