Cities and panoramas of South Tyrol

How hot, dear friends, in August 2024! It makes you think with nostalgia of the holidays of past years, perhaps those spent in fresh places full of accessible attractions.

We then went back in memory to the summer of 2010 and the two weeks spent in South Tyrol; based on the Renon plateau, we went around many places such as Bolzano, Merano, Bressanone, Vipiteno and we had our fill of landscapes, walks and monuments in the most comfortable and suitable way for our needs.

In fact, it must be said that the average level of accessibility of the historic centers and mountain resorts of South Tyrol is certainly excellent, as we have already highlighted in our post on the Pusteria Valley.

Let us now illustrate the various destinations of our stay, starting from the RENON plateau and its views:

From the Renon plateau you can also see the Earth Pyramids:

With the cable car from Renon you go down to BOLZANO:

THE CATHEDRAL AND WALTER SQUARE

THE CHAPEL OF SAINT JOHN IN THE DOMINICAN CHURCH

A few kilometers by car and you arrive in MERANO:

POST BRIDGE

KURHAUS

THE CATHEDRAL OF SAN NICOLO'

ON THE PASSIRIO RIVER

THE SUMMER WALK ALONG THE PASSIRIO STARTS WITH SISSI

THE ROMAN BRIDGE

THE GILF WALK

Another destination worth exploring further is BRESSANONE:

THE CATHEDRAL

THE CATHEDRAL'S CLOISTER

THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE by Martin Reiner

PFAUNDLER - GORETH HOUSE

A jewel of religious architecture can be found outside the inhabited centers, and it is the NOVACELLA ABBEY:

And if we take the A22 towards Brenner we can make a stop at VIPITENO:

THE TOWER OF THE TWELVE

Let's return to the mountains with the ALPE DI SIUSI:

THE CHURCH OF S. MAGDALENA

And now we want to offer you some images of the hotel we stayed in; it is a very pretty structure, both because it overlooks Lake Costalovara, which guests can access from a private beach, and because the furnishings of the rooms and common areas and the flowered balconies are extremely well looked after.

We can use the present tense because we have kept ourselves informed about how the hotel is managed today, but of course if any of our readers are interested in staying there we certainly recommend contacting the managers to explain their needs.

Here are the hotel details:
