May of reopening: even the Palazzo delle Arti in Naples (P.A.N.) (*) is back in full operation and on Saturday 22 we sled to visit this exhibition on the great Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Being there, we saw four other exhibits that were open during this period. Let's start with the practical news:
Frida Kahlo Experience - Ojos que no ven corazòn que no siente
Via dei Mille 60, Naples
https://fridakahlonapoli.it/ (reservations and tickets only online)
closing: 29.08.21
Let's say immediately that this exhibition tends to make us discover the most intimate and private aspect of the artist, through a large amount of digitally reprinted photos, some suggestive videos, the reproduction of Frida's bedroom and study in the Casa Azul that her father built almost to measure and where she lived almost to her death; also there are copies of her jewels, and of the clothes inspired by the traditional ones of the Mexican people that she wore habitually. The Casa Azul today houses the Frida Kahlo Museum and houses the ashes of the great artist. Recall that we are talking about a woman struck by polio as a child and at the age of 18 was victim of a terrible accident: the bus she was traveling on was crushed by a tram against a wall. The consequences of the accident were very serious for Frida: her spine broke in three places in the lumbar region; she shattered the neck of the femur and the ribs; her left leg sustained 11 fractures and the bus strap pierced her left hip; the right foot was dislocated and crushed; the left shoulder was dislocated and the pelvic bone broken in three places. She underwent 32 surgeries. Discharged from the hospital, she was forced to rest in bed at home, with her bust in plaster. And perhaps we can say that she never recovered from all this, so much so that she died at the age of 47, after having suffered the amputation of her right leg a year earlier. Let's take a look at the images of the exhibition:
Of the other four exhibitions we can show you two. The first one is that of the painter Antonio Di Falco, who paints with charcoal on plywood sheets and carves small pieces of logs collected on the beaches:
