We are still here, in our Naples, to report an event held at the Maschio Angioino, the Neapolitan castle located near the sea and which in past centuries was the seat of the Angevin and Aragonese sovereigns, only to then give way to the one which to all today we call it the Royal Palace. What is it about? We are talking about the exhibition WHAT A...KRAZY LIFE! dedicated to the American artist Ronnie Cutrone (1948 - 2013), whose figure we try to outline through the presentation notes distributed at the entrance to the Palatine Chapel, which hosts the exhibition: Originally from New York City, Ronnie Cutrone was one of the most influential exponents of New Pop Art. He belongs to the first generation of American artists whose visual education was formed between television, Hollywood myths, advertising, rock music and mass media. Thanks to his studies at the School of Visual Art in New York from 1966 to 1970, Cutrone came into contact with the New York artistic avant-garde, working as Warhol's assistant from 1972 and contributing to the creation of many pop works of the time. Famous is his participation in the show "Exploding Plastic Inevitable", where he danced on stage with the Velvet Underground and Nico. So we show you our selection of the 24 works on display, depicting comic and cartoon characters, advertising clippings and continuous references to the American flag:
At the end of this stimulating and colorful exhibition, we would only add that the exhibition is open until 4 August 2024 and that the Maschio Angioino is easily reachable for those traveling in wheelchairs with Metro Line 1, getting off at the MUNICIPIO station. UNTIL NEXT TIME !!
